How do Electricians get Certified in Canada?
In Canada, electricians must complete specialized schooling and apprenticeships to become certified professionals. It is a ongoing process where the person must complete work hours and technical training. Each apprentice must complete 1800 hours worked before they are allowed to go to each level of technical training. There are 4 technical training levels, each one must be completed with a minimum grade of 70% in each course. Once complete each apprentice will have a minimum of 7200 hours worked as well as 4 completed technical training levels. Once you have done all that you may challenge the national red seal exam. It is one 3 hour exam to test your electrical knowledge. To obtain the red seal you need a minimum of 70% on the exam to pass.
